POEM: Diamond versus Stones

I found myself in a turmoil, Chills ran down my spine. I curled up in a ball, Scared to face it all alone.

I thought my game was over, After all I have been fighting for so long, That my knees are getting weak now. I think of giving up, Because weaker is my faith.

The whole world seems to be against me. I slowly close my eyes, And count those who care.

My vision gets clearer, As I see all my friends. And then it struck me that I am not alone.

There may not be many standing by my side, But a few diamonds are better than a thousand worthless stones.

Renewed strength pumped inside my veins, Slowly spreading in my body. From that moment I know I can do it, I have a reason to go on.

I have to fight, Not for myself but for those who believe in me. Tears roll down my cheeks, As troubles unveil themselves before me.

One after the other, But I won’t give up fighting. Everyone in a while when my nerves get tired of this dilemma And I need to take a break, I find a friend’s shoulder always there for me to lean on, Until I can gather my courage to fight yet again.

There may not be many standing by my side, But a few diamonds are better than a thousand worthless stones. When words become insufficient, A meaningful hug from a true friend says it all.

They let me fight my war, So I learn to face this world on my own. But are always there beside me, To help me dress the wounds inflicted upon me And to offer me a hand every time I fall down.

A wave of guilt washed over me As I realize how fortunate i am, To have all these friends For there are many who have none. Happiness might not like my company, But I have my friends, a blessing unknown to many.

There may not be many standing by my side, But a few diamonds are better than a thousand worthless stones.
