FBR Tax Asaan Mobile App


Tax Asaan is a mobile application with selected functionality of Iris web application. This mobile application provides the taxpayers a quick and on-the-go access of basic verification features like Active Taxpayers List (ATL), Online NTN/STRN Inquiry, Exemption Certificate and CPR Utilization Status etc.

For Income Tax Return

To facilitate taxpayers, FBR has introduced a simplified wizard-based Income Tax Return filing mechanism as a new feature of Tax Asaan mobile application.

This feature will help taxpayer to proceed step by step utilizing interactive questions for return filing, even familiarizing the taxpayer with the various issues related to tax and giving the best possible experience to file IT Return.

The wizard-based solution takes care of Salaried Individual Income Tax Return for resident/non-Resident taxpayers.

 The mobile application enables the taxpayer to draft the return offline giving them freedom and flexibility to file their return at their own convenience anywhere and at any time however to perform calculations and in order to submit the IT Return, internet connectivity is required by the application.

For Sale Tax Return

A new and simplified functionality is provided under Tax Asaan mobile application for the users to get register for Sales Tax.

Now user can save time and instead of visiting RTO for sales tax registration they can simply fill in the registration form available on Tax Asaan mobile application.

Tax Asaan – Sales Tax Registration feature facilities both manufactures and other than manufacturer categories of sales tax.

Soon after successful registration the user will be able to generate bank CPR for payments of dues. However, in order to file Sales Tax, Return the user needs to get bio-metric verification within a month of sales tax registration by visiting e-Sahulat center of NADRA.

FBR chairman Shabbar Zaidi said the tax collection body had updated the app for income tax return filing for salaried persons only, claiming it would greatly assist taxpayers in the filing of their returns without any trouble. “We encourage all taxpayers to submit their returns on time,” he said.

Till Friday 20 Sep, on Google’s official Android operating system there were over 20,000 downloads of the app and 6,000 plus downloads on Apple’s iOS mobile operating system by different users.

In terms of submission of salary return, the data showed as many as 1,753 draft returns and 98 returns had been submitted online so far through the app which the chairman said was reflective of its success.

The FBR has also uploa­ded the new electronic form of return for individuals, salaried individuals and association of persons for the tax year 2019 on the FBR website after making necessary amendments. The deadline for the submission of returns has been set for Sept 30.

To further facilitate taxpayers, the spokesperson said the FBR is working on coming up with sector- specific return forms to facilitate filing. He said the draft return forms for various sectors will be notified by next week which will also include small manufacturers and educational institutions.

At the same time, he said simplified return forms will be introduced for small hospitals and clinics to facilitate them in filing their tax returns. The move is in line with the FBR’s ongoing drive to bring educational institutions and hospitals under the tax net.

The spokesperson said the FBR is also working on devising simple return forms for jewellers, which will address their specific issues in order to facilitate them in filing their tax returns.

The government expects total number of tax returns to reach four million during the tax year 2019. However, during the last tax year, the FBR received over 2.5m returns — highest ever in the country’s history.
