Often we consume a variety of food items without knowing their impacts on the planet. We don’t think that the production cycles behind a lot of food must be having large carbon footprints and require more natural resources such as water and forests. So, it is imperative to be aware of which food is good or bad for our Planet.
Unfortunately, we all are meat-eaters. According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, the environmental impacts of the meat are worst making half of the global emissions. Moreover, Cows are ruminants they take food from plants by fermenting it first. Fermentation is a process that produces methane which is a greenhouse gas a hundred times stronger than carbon dioxide.
We should banish meat and dairy products from our diet that may reduce carbon footprints, but there are certain fruits and vegetables, you have to avoid them. Generally, Asparagus, Avocados, Bananas, have heavy carbon footprints cost a surprising 19.6 pounds of CO2 per pound.
These need the prodigious amount of water for their growth. However, plants based food can make you more salubrious by lowering the risks of heart diseases and obesity. At the same time, meatless food may save your planet earth.
